Local charity Compaid has announced the closure of its transport and training services by December 17 due to financial pressures

Paddock Wood-based charity Compaid has announced the closure of its community transport and training services by December 17 2026, due to growing financial pressures.
For the past 40 years Compaid has helped local disabled, disadvantaged and elderly people across West Kent with getting to vital medical and other appointments, as well as training in computing and digital skills, and tackling social isolation.
The charity trustees have tried to save the business by seeking additional funding. However, this has sadly proved unsuccessful.
Compaid chief executive officer Michelle Ford said: ‘This is an incredibly sad decision for everyone connected to Compaid’.
West Kent Different Strokes support group founder Lisa Beaumont told West Kent Radio:
‘it’s a big loss to my local stroke group members who used it for transport and computer skills. Very sad.’
