    Volunteering at West Kent Radio
     

    West Kent Radio is your local volunteer-led community radio station broadcasting to Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge, Southborough and surrounding villages and towns.

    The station is staffed by volunteers and we are looking for new members to join the team.

    Being a volunteer with us is not just about presenting a programme and you will be expected to support the station in other ways.

    Our volunteers are aged from 18 to 80 and they become involved in a variety of activities to support the station, including show presentation, request collection, attending fundraising events, collecting patient requests from our local hospitals and raising our public profile.

    Not everyone who joins us wants to be a presenter and we welcome applications from people who want to contribute by taking responsibility for off-air activities.

    SPECIFIC VOLUNTEERS CURRENTLY NEEDED:

    We are currently looking for volunteers to fill some specific roles within the team, so if any of the following roles interest you, please mention this in your application.

    Treasurer - someone to assist looking after the charity's accounts, dealing with the day-to-day payments & receipts. Creating a month statement for the Trustees and undertaking the annual accounts and quarterly VAT returns. 

    Social Media Co-Ordinator - someone to assist with the day to day running of the charity's social media accounts, making regular posts and assisting other team members to learn what they need to do to create suitable posts using all the correct techniques and hashtags etc.

    Daytime Presenters - ideally someone with some previous broadcasting experience who is available on a regular basis during the working week to present either our West Kent Today shows, or Afternoon slots. Able to conduct interviews with visitors from the community and operate the live studio. Training on our playout system would be provided.

    Please note: Due to being a voluntary organisation are unable to offer work experience placements.
