TWBC Centre's Milestone

The Amelia Scott cultural centre in Tunbridge Wells has welcomed a six day old baby as its millionth visitor.

The centre has been opened since April 2022 and is attracting an increasing number of visitors.

The Amelia Scott has firmly established itself as a centre for culture, heritage, education and council services.

At just 6 days old Sienna became The Amelia Scott’s one millionth visitor on Thursday, when proud parents Millie and Jordan (pictured below) came to register her birth, winning a voucher for the Assembly Hall Theatre and a goody bag.

The Amelia Scott says it has: "garnered a reputation for attracting a diverse range of exhibitions which appeal to a wide range of audiences, an amazingly busy and vibrant programme for families - and a place where young people can come to study in a safe and welcoming environment."

"Not simply a cultural hub, The Amelia Scott also serves as Tunbridge Wells Borough Council’s front line, where members of the community can seek support for all sorts of complex issues, from housing to those fleeing domestic violence. To date the on-site call centre staff have handled a mammoth 500,000 calls".

The Tunbridge Wells Borough Council Cabinet member for Economic Development, Justine Rutland, said: "To have reached this milestone in a little over three years is nothing short of incredible, and I would like to thank everyone who works and volunteers at The Amelia Scott. Here you will find so much care taken and dedication to look after the residents of Tunbridge Wells in all sorts of ways. I know the team will not be resting on its laurels but instead be preparing for a busy summer and exciting, creative new projects.”

Arts, Heritage and Engagement Director, Jeremy Kimmel adds, “I hope this will be Sienna’s first visit of many in the coming years. We couldn’t be more proud of what we have achieved with The Amelia Scott, and ought to thank both the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Arts Council England for their support. Most of all we are extremely grateful to our community for embracing us and voting with their feet. The Amelia Scott will continue to strive to be at the heart of the community, and to make sure that everybody has access to high quality culture, a peaceful setting and help when they need it the most.”

The Amelia Scott is continuing to organise new attractions. Magic Place will be the 12th exhibition opening next week on 27 June, a family friendly interactive digital play space for all from creators Genetic Moo. More details at:
