Mona Channet chats to magician Casper Thomas ahead of his show at the Langton Green Festival.
How do you interview someone whose entire craft depends on you not knowing how it works?
That was the challenge when I recently sat down with professional magician Caspar Thomas ahead of his Art of Close-Up Magic show at the Langton Green Festival on 27th June.
Interviewing a magician isn’t straightforward. The whole experience is built on perception, psychology and misdirection, which means the most interesting parts of the conversation are often the ones you can’t fully unpack without spoiling the magic itself. So the real task becomes finding the story behind the illusion, not the secret behind the trick.
With over 14 years as a full-time magician, Caspar shared how sleight of hand, audience psychology and performance all come together to create moments that genuinely leave people questioning what they’ve just seen.
Have you ever watched something and been completely convinced you saw it right… only to realise you didn’t?
