Tun Wells Climate and Nature Fair

The first Climate and Nature Fair in Tunbridge Wells is to be held in Calverley Grounds in September.

The event has the support of the local council, the local MP and many local businesses.

It's described by organisers as a "vibrant day of community, fun and hope for the planet we love."

One of the organisers, Mark McBennett, told West Kent Radio that they had been inspired by a similar event in Sevenoaks last year.

Listen to him outline the aims of the Climate and Nature Fair:

It'll be a full day from 10am to 5pm on Saturday 13th September.

Mark McBennett explained: "In Tunbridge Wells there is a 'green coalition' of organisations focussed on environmental and nature issues. They have several hundred members each. But there are obviously a lot more people in the area who are concerned - but maybe not quite sure - how to actually get involved and take action...day to day".

Mark continued: "This fair is around building a 'bigger tent'...having more people meeting, talking, and sharing ideas and learning new ideas for how they can do things differently."

Mark McBennett concluded: "We have lots of fun activities arranged for all ages. There will be a speaker programme, there will be live music, poetry, dance, arts and crafts and information about all sorts of energy solutions. There will be food and drink. Pretty much all you can hope for - from a fair."
