19 businesses in Tonbridge and Malling which tackle climate change and reduce their carbon emissions, have been awarded grants to support their work.

The first wave of funding, has allocated nearly £77,000. One company receiving an award was Zilch Zero Waste, the Tonbridge store committed to cutting the use of plastic packaging.

Councillor Vivian Branson said: "The diverse range of applications we received show that businesses in our borough want to do their bit to help tackle climate change.


Covid cases in West Kent dropped in the latest set of data released, covering the week to 3 November. Tunbridge Wells saw a drop of around 7%, with Tonbridge and Malling down 20%. Sevenoaks saw the largest reduction in cases, at 29%.


Frontline staff working at local hospitals in West Kent have been told that they must be fully Covid vaccinated. The announcement risks a shortage of key workers when the restriction comes into place. The deadline for jabs will be next Spring. Across the wider NHS, 89% of frontline staff have received two jabs. Local care home staff have until Thursday this week to receive their Covid vaccinations.


The Amelia project in Tunbridge Wells is seeking artist proposals for a new artwork. The successful artist will need to explore the often hidden links and impact refugees have had on towns and communities, both past and present. The value of the commission is £10,000, with proposal submissions due by mid-December.


This year’s Sevenoaks Panto is supporting Breast Cancer Now, the research and care charity. Collecting buckets will be used after every show and a special adults only performance on the 17th of December, will see all profits passed on the charity.

A reporter and photographer from The Sun newspaper visited the Opera House in Tunbridge Wells yesterday, speaking to patrons about the building. The Weatherspoons pub is said to be the most beautiful in the county, following restoration work.
