There are several council by-elections underway in West Kent. In Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council area, by-elections are underway in the West Malling and Leybourne ward, Castle Ward Tonbridge, and also Kings Hill. Polling day is on Thursday the 9th of December. In Tunbridge Wells Borough Council area, the Speldhurst and Bidborough ward by-election is due to be held on the 25th of November.


The consultation on the possible use of a second runway at Gatwick Airport continues, until the first of December. Earlier this month, a mobile exhibition from the airport visited Tunbridge Wells and Edenbridge. Tomorrow evening, the Gatwick Obviously Not group, meets at Penshurst Church, at 8pm. Among the speakers, is Tonbridge MP, Tom Tugendhat.


Garden waste collection in Tonbridge continue. From today, if your normal collection day for garden waste is a Tuesday, you can expect a collection soon. The council will send emails to registered users with the day the bin should be placed at the roadside. Collections where the usual day in Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, will be starting at a later undetermined date.


The SOS Southborough volunteers collected 150 bags of rubbish in the town last month, bringing the total to over 2,100 for the year, plus around five skips worth of larger items.


The results of this week's TW Lotto are the numbers 2-4-3-0-9-2. There were four £25 winners and 30 second prize winners.


In weekend sport, and in rugby, Edenbridge beat Heathfield, away, by ten points to 15. In local football, Tonbridge Angels took on Braintree away, losing by one goal to nil and dropping to 17th in the table.
