Residents asked 'What matters to you?'

Tonbridge & Malling Council need your views

Residents asked 'What matters to you?'

The new Leader of Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council today launches a consultation inviting residents to highlight areas they would like the authority to focus on.

The ‘What matters to you?’ survey is open to everyone in the borough and will help guide policy making in the months and years ahead. Those who take part will be invited to provide their perspective on what’s good about living in the area and the single change they would most like to see.

The survey will also seek views on specific areas of policy, including climate change, housing, the local economy and waste and recycling. Residents will also be asked to provide views on how the council operates, including whether it should do more to keep people informed about proposals and enable them to be more involved in decision-making.

The survey opens on 5 October) and will run for three weeks, closing on 26 October. The results will then be reviewed by the cabinet, councillors and senior council officers.

Cllr Boughton said: ‘One of my top priorities on becoming leader was to listen to what the people of Tonbridge and Malling want from their council. Residents pay towards our services and it’s only right that we listen to their concerns and enable as many people as possible to have a say in the policies we pursue.

‘As we emerge from the pandemic, there are many challenges to be met, not least repairing our damaged finances and resolving the current problems affecting some of our waste services. There are also opportunities to change how we operate as a council and to make sure residents’ priorities are helping shape our agenda. This consultation exercise is a first step towards doing that.’
