Kitchen Youth Opera presents Arthur Sullivan's The Zoo at the Stag Theatre

On Sunday 8 March 2026, Kitchen Youth Opera (KYO) presents a one-off performance of The Zoo, Arthur Sullivan’s one-act comic opera, at Sevenoaks’ Stag Theatre.
Packed with wit, charm and memorable melodies, The Zoo follows two young couples as they navigate misunderstandings, secrets and social obstacles on their path to true love. The action unfolds in a lively, humorous manner, culminating in a joyful and happy ending.
KYO was set up in 2014, by Sevenoaks music teacher Deborah Gjeloshaj, to bring youth opera to West Kent. The company, whose members are aged 10-18, performs one work per year and, given the children’s hectic school and exam timetables, there have been just eight rehearsals between casting and the final performance. Other productions have included Dido and Aeneas (by Henry Purcell), and Down in the Valley (Kurt Weill) as well as such Gilbert & Sullivan favourites as The Mikado and Trial By Jury.
The tickets cost £16.50 and are available from the Stag Theatre Box Office on 01732 450175. You can also connect with KYO on Facebook, via Kitchen Youth Opera, or on Instagram – kitchenyouthopera – for updates, photos and information about future productions.
This is a non-profit performance. All the proceeds go towards paying expenses - accompanist, venue hire, music licences, costumes and other costs.
