Nula Suchet tells a heartbreaking story of love and loss, but one that ultimately leads to happiness.

At the age of 58 her husband James was diagnosed with temporal lobe dementia. She tells of her horror at being told there was no cure, compounded by being given no road map of how to navigate her way through this dreadful disease. After a decade of living with dementia, and losing James, a new life beckoned.

Born in Dublin, NULA SUCHET was educated in Ireland and England. She trained as an artist and designer at Chelsea College of Art and Design, later working with Henry Moore. She met James Black working as art director for a TV series he was directing in Africa with Walter Cronkite. James was diagnosed with dementia in 2004. Over the ensuing decade she was forced to give up her work to become a full time carer. James died in 2014.

Nula has since campaigned to improve knowledge, care and support not only for those diagnosed, but also for carers. She is ambassador for three dementia charities, Alzheimer's UK, National Brain Appeal, and Dementia UK.

In 2016 she married John Suchet, who also lost his wife to dementia.

The book is a heartfelt account of a battle against dementia and an unexpected happy ending.
