Maidstone LitFest

Maidstone LitFest has firmly established itself as a highlight of Maidstone’s cultural and events calendar, and this year promises another outstanding programme of events.

The diverse programme brings together broadcasters, historians and authors, alongside self-publishing and writers’ workshops, wine tasting and romantic fiction. With a commitment to offering something for every audience, this year sees the return of the popular Suspense After Dark dinner, featuring acclaimed thriller writers Adele Parks and Louise Candlish.

Broadcaster Sian Williams takes centre stage at the Hazlitt Theatre, joining BBC newsreader Ellie Crisell for a fascinating conversation inspired by her Sunday Times bestseller, The Power of Anxiety. Together, they will challenge what we think we know about anxiety and explore its impact on our lives.

The festival will also launch its inaugural poetry competition, judged by esteemed Kent poet Dr Dorothy Lehane, former Head of Creative Writing at the University of Kent. Shortlisted poets and the overall winner will be invited to a special event on National Poetry Day, 1 October, marking the start of this year’s festival.

With an exciting mix of established names, emerging talent and engaging events, this year’s festival promises something for every lover of words, stories and ideas.
