This December, the popular (and free!) Christmas Tree Festival will return to King
Charles the Martyr Church in Tunbridge Wells for the 5th year running.
Inside the beautiful church, the first substantial building constructed in the historic town, visitors will be able to experience an event which is fast becoming a key part of the festive celebrations in Tunbridge Wells.
No visit to Tunbridge Wells over the festive period is complete without a trip to see this beautiful, visual example of the way in which local organisations, businesses, families and groups all come together at this special time of year.
It would not be possible without the generosity of Visiting Angels-South West Kent & East Sussex, who have kindly agreed to sponsor the Christma Tree Festival.
This year’s is bigger than ever, with more than 30 trees in the church being decorated by a local business or group in honour of a nominated charity. They will then be auctioned off at the end of the festival, with the money raised going directly to the named charities.
Donations will also be collected throughout the tree festival which are then shared equally between the charities. The aim is to help promote charities and signpost people
to places where they can get help, whilst providing a wonderful festive
memory for people of all ages. We have a variety of groups involved
ranging from nurseries to care homes. Some of the charities involved are
more well-known, especially in the local area such as the Mayors Charities: this year, the Sea Cadets and Hospice in the Weald. But others may be less well-known, such as the Tunbridge Wells Area Parent Support Group, that works with local families whose children have type one Diabetes.
The Tree Festival will run from December 10 – 13, 2026, launching on December 10 at 6.30pm with the sociable ‘Wassail and Wine’ preview evening. On the morning of December 11 local schools will be visiting and in the afternoon between 12 and 6 pm there will be a pop up community cafe with Buddi Bench, a local organisation who help people
feel more connected.
On Saturday December 12, the church will host a Christmas Fair between 11am and 6pmto showcase fantastic local makers in this unique setting. On Sunday, the tree festival runs from 9 am to 3pm, ending with a Christingle service, after which the winning bidders will be free to take their trees home.
All are welcome. If you have any questions, please contact events@kcmtw.org
