This exhibition - entitled Together? - offers an exciting display of artwork produced by the Künstlergruppe50 artists from our twin city of Wiesbaden in Germany.
It has been arranged by the Tunbridge Wells Twinning & Friendship Association, as part of the 35th anniversary of the signing of the Twinning Charter.
The Künstlergruppe50 Wiesbaden was formed in 1950 by a group of German artists whose work had been declared 'degenerate art' by the Nazi regime and who rallied together after the war to revitalise free and individual artistic expression.
They reconnected to the art developments before the ideological dictatorship of the Third Reich, such as German expressionism, Bauhaus and abstract painting, and supported and inspired each other in the search of their individual path and artistic language.
